Armenian crosses date back to the 3rd Century and are considered 'living' crosses. The tips of the traditional Armenian crosses have stylized floret elements, representing eternal life. In Aram's interpretation, the symbol of the cross is transformed it into an organic 'tree of life' image.
"This cross is very personal for me as an Armenian. I like to imagine the arms of the cross reaching up to heaven, while the roots are firmly placed on earth. It is a metaphor for male and female, and the balance of spirit and worldliness."
